While the sakuras have just started blooming, brands in Japan have already released sakura-themed products in celebration of spring. If you aren’t in Japan, here are our top picks so you can enjoy the sakura season too!

Lipton Sakura Tea

We’ve all noticed that Lipton has been releasing more unique flavours recently. But Lipton Japan seems to be stepping up their game with sakura flavoured tea. It’s supposed to taste like sakura mochi, a popular Japanese springtime snack and comes in pyramid tea bags for easier steeping.

Lipton recommends that you drink the tea straight (meaning no sugar and no milk) so that the full sakura flavour comes through. Wondering where you can get some? The tea is already available online. But from 1 March, this limited edition spring flavour will be available in combo packs across Japan too!

Sakura Sakuranbo Milk Tea

Coca-Cola is bringing us something new with their latest spring drink. Rather than creating a sakura-flavoured version of the drink (like Pepsi and Redbull did last year), the company has just released a seasonal sakura royal milk tea to celebrate the spring season.

Instead of just the blossoms, the limited edition tea also tastes of sakuranbo (the sakura cherries). The addition of fresh Hokkaido cream and domestically produced milk cuts the tartness of the cherry to produce a super creamy flavour that surprisingly tastes like Peach!

If you’re looking to try Coke’s new tea, it’s only released on 9th March, so be sure to mark your calenders!

When it comes to seasonal drinks, we don’t think any brand can compare to Starbucks in terms of creativity. And Starbucks Japan isn’t disappointing us. The brand has just released a new Starbucks Discoveries flavour; Sakura-Raspberry Milk Latte.

Think that sounds good? The drink also comes with a generous helping of milk pudding bits for some texture.

At first sip, you get a robust cherry flavour, which is eventually mellowed out by the milk and pudding in the drink. You can get the new sakura raspberry milk latte at any convenience store in Japan. It’s only available for the spring season so get yours while you can!

Sadly, most of the sakura themed foods this year are perishable and therefore can’t be brought out of Japan for us to enjoy. Calbee seems to be the exception, with their sakura prawn flavoured chips!

Their box contains 8 bags of 15 grams, so and your friends will be able to try the sakura shrimps from Suruga Bay.
